Elbows Mac N’ Cheese, keep it cheesy

My Boyznberries and I had the opportunity to go to  Elbows Mac n’ Cheese a couple of weeks ago.
We visited the Brea location.
When we walked in we were greeted with smiles and the place was packed. I quickly took my seat as I was ready to see what all the fuss is about.
I don’t mess around when it comes to food, we started off with the Pretzel Bites and Fondue. It was their house pretzels that were so warm, firm on the outside and warm and heavenly on the inside. We had to implement the rules here. I mean I had to teach my boys how to be sophisticated when taking turns. More importantly I wanted to make sure I got my fair share. After all it was a four cheese fondue. I was surprised and a bit devastated the boys liked it. I would have been happy dipping by myself. Who knew their pallets were becoming so refined?
My middle son ordered a side of fries to dip in the left over fondue. This boy is after my own heart! So innovative. Now pass the fries son.

Next order of business was WHAT to order. As soon as I realized we were going to order It dawned on me that one person in our bunch was gluten free. OPPS! Perhaps he can just order a salad and be thankful he was invited?! JUST kidding that is so rude, but really I truly had a brain fart and forgot that I was bringing someone who was GLUTEN FREE to a place that serves gourmet and traditional Mac n’ Cheese.

Leave it to Elbows Mac n’ Cheese to think of EVERYONE OK not everyone but or all the Gluten Free’ERs’. Yippee we can ALL eat…. they can substitute the regular pasta with a multi-grain or gluten free pasta for a minimal fee.

My youngest had the Mini Bows (Kids Meal) Which is your Cheddar mac n’ cheese or grilled cheese sandwich, veggie sticks, and a cookie.

Oh look at this decadent cheesy goodness! I told my son I needed to try the first bite to make sure it was the right “temperature”. Oh my goodness this was delicious. Out of all the times my son doesn’t eat his food he devoured his plate. I couldn’t come back and eat his as well. I did savor the first bite I did manage to take.

My middle son had to do a double take with the menu. Two of his favorites in one bowl, could this be happening? Oh yes sweet boy, get ready to get your cheese on! My Son decided to Wing it, literally. He had the WINGIN’IT which is sharp cheddar cheese with Buffalo wing sauce topped with boneless chicken, crumbled blue cheese and scallions. Which he opted out of the latter two.
He gives it one thumb up and one fork down! This is winner folks! Fork is in eating position no begging the kids to eat their dinner tonight!
I wanted to try one of their combos, and the one I opted for was the half macaroni and half salad. I had the half cranberry walnut salad with the So Shellfish. When I was told real lobster and fresh asparagus was in a rich asiago with Parmesan I really didn’t know how the flavors would interact and how it would harmonize. So I had to try for myself.

It wasn’t that bad, they blended and harmonized in a very unique way.
This Gluten Free foodie ironically had ; “When Pigs Fly”!
Swiss and gruyere cheese with applewood smoked bacon with gluten free pasta. I had to have a bite to see if you could tell the difference with the GF pasta. I couldn’t tell the difference. It was delicious.

As if we would EVER pass up dessert. The time was finally here and we got to try their perfect sweet treat. The powdered sugar crispy treat that was readily available to dunk in the warm chocolate beside it. The perfect pair to a satisfying evening.

Come here lover!
