Hawaii 5-0

My hoapili (good friend) Barbara and her ku`uipo (sweetheart) Todd recently turned 50 years old.

I was so elated when she said I could assist with throwing her Hawaii 5-0 party.  The guests would be instructed to dress like they were going to a Luau.

Their backyard is the perfect backdrop for a Hawaiian Luau party.  With the palm trees, flowers, hammocks, wicker patio chairs and the background the only thing we were missing were coconuts, the waves crashing in the backyard oh and one more huge thing, the venue.

After getting a headcount and a budget put together we decided it would be best to have it catered and not just catered but we needed entertainment. We wanted the guest to feel like they were really at a luau. We were thinking, hula dancers,

fire dancers

and an MC

who would engage the guests.

After extensive research we both agreed that SoCal Events would be able to deliver both food and entertainment.

Bill Krenz owner at So Cal Events was so accommodating and knowledgeable of what we needed to make this event spectacular.

The day of the event the caterers showed up early and set up with such Aloha and dressed for the attire. They couldn’t be more accommodating. The food we chose for the event was Chicken, Pork, Rolls, Salad, and Rice.

Now I need to tell you something, I am not a pork fan. Its always dry and tasteless. Well I am a Pork fan now, only if it’s from So Cal Events! The pork was so tender and saturated with flavors that it made my mouth do the hula in pure excitement. This pork was better than anything thing I have ever tasted, better than the pork I have had numerous times in Maui at luaus.  It was so tender and sweet it complemented the meal. Don’t get me wrong the other food was fabulous as well. Had it not been for me wearing spanx I would have brought the whole chafing dish to my table with fork in had. The pork with a sweet Hawaiian roll oh my gosh it is better than anything I have ever tasted and that is saying a lot because I love to eat. I wasn’t the only one either everyone was going back for seconds, thirds and even fourths.

I am sure if no one were looking someone would have licked all the dishes. I am not kidding when I say you have not had a meal until you have had one from So Cal Events. The food was phenomenal.

After our stomachs were satisfied it was time for the dancers. We had hula dancers and you can’t have hula dancers without audience participation.

Everyone was so engaged, it was so nice to see my friend and her husband laughing and enjoying themselves.

The guests couldn’t help laughing and clapping at the participation and Hula dancers. Oh and the fire dancers, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Island of Hawaii couldn’t hear all the OOH and AWEING.

It was a marvelous night everyone was so hau`oli (happy)! It was a night to remember that is for sure.
If you are looking for a caterer who knows how to deliver both taste and quality  SoCal Events is for you. Oh and just another tidbit; have you seen the movie Couples Retreat or Bedtime Story, that is just to name just a couple. Bill from SoCalEvents was in the movie so be on the lookout for the luau scenes. This party was one that was suitable for any A-Listers.

I am most certain that all his events are just as grand. Thank you SoCal Events for such an amazing party,

Barbara, Todd and all the 60 guests were able to “Hang Loose” and have a great time.
