“Take me out to the ballgame….

….. take me out with the crowd, buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks…and I’ll settle for some cotton candy too!”

Earlier this month I was able to take my toddler to his first baseball game, compliments of my church. Every year they have an Angels tailgate party where we enjoy hotdogs, sodas, and chips before we head in the stadium to watch the game. Sadly I have to admit that I can relate to Aboott and Costello when it comes to baseball as “Who’s on first, What’s on second, I Don’t Know’s on third” is all too familiar for me.

Embarrassing as it is given that I have three boys, two of whom have little league baseball teams and I still have no idea whats going on the field.  Largely that’s because as a busy single mom of three boys I rarely get a chance to sit down and watch a game. However, this time was so different that it was almost a miracle.  My two older boys were away at camp and so it was just me and my littlest monkey. It was the perfect little date night!

He was super excited to just have Mommy time, and I was equally thrilled that he was so well behaved!  In fact, it was the first time I was ever able to watch a game without a seemingly endless stream of interruptions. He sat in his seat the entire time with the occasional potty run.  Unfortunately, one of those times was during the seventh-inning stretch and so we missed our chance to sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”  Other than that the night was perfect. My little Rally Monkey had the best time and so did his mom!
