As I make my boyznberries breakfast, pack their lunches and make dinner. I sometimes take that for granted. We should all feel incredibly blessed when we have the means to provide food for our children. In the U.S. 1 in 5 kids face hunger. That number gives me anxiety. 1 in 5!!! ONE in FIVE kids face HUNGER. So when you drop your kids off at school tomorrow, and lets say there are 30 kids in their class. It’s estimated that 6 kids in YOUR child’s class faces hunger. I have a 5, 12 and 16-year-old. I can’t even imagine. Its time to eradicate this problem.
Kids are waking up hungry, go to school hungry and or go to bed hungry. This is not acceptable! So hard to come to the reality that children in the classrooms across the country are facing this. Not having the energy to engage, focus, learn and grow. This long-term effects are such as grade repetition and developmental impairments.
There are plenty of things we can do to help. We can donate to Feeding America, We can give to food banks…So many nonprofits that help with trying to assist with this tragedy.
We can all start with something small, and its usually those small things that make a big difference. My kids love Welch’s® Fruit Snacks and I love them even more now!
